Two stunning mornings yesterday and today … but I’ve been reluctantly avoiding swims since last Wednesday due to continued trouble with a recently arthritic thumb … which started playing up right when the weather turned cool … don’t know whether to blame cold water or too much time at the computer … but it’s causing me all sorts of grief as it’s my right hand … am trying the scientific approach by eliminating one thing at a time …
Meanwhile I’m trying fish oil and every other potion and remedy I can lay my hands on …
But I’m missing my swims, and now the weather is a lot warmer it’s really irksome …
Meanwhile beach friends Scooter and Joey have been getting into some serious school holiday action with their Dad …
Scooter told me he likes fishing while Joey prefers to surf … Joey looked so cute on his board … but don’t tell him I said that …
Scooter and his Dad caught tailor on Sunday morning …
And yesterday it was whiting … Scooter hooked one just as I was passing …
This Morning’s Stats:
Temperature: Much milder … the minimum was meant to be 11º but it was at least a couple of degrees warmer by 8 a.m.
Sand: OK, not too cold. Had a lovely wade at the edge of the surf
Pool: Not as busy as in summer
Me: To be honest, a bit average …
Surf: Gentle
Wildlife: Also fishing were some terns … they do that fold your wings and drop like a missile thing into the water … most impressive.
And I must say they’re much better behaved than seagulls, who were pestering everyone on the beach over the weekend for their pizza and fish’n'chips.
In fact I think I spotted Jonathan L Seagull circling with some friends … or was it his aggressive cousin?
Either way his intentions were very clear … to sink his beak into someone’s junk food.

Hi there beachblogger,
I empathise with you in relation to your arthritic thumb in this cold weather. I, too, suffer the same ailment. I tried a few potions including a drink of honey, cinnamon and warm water. Cinnamon, apparently, is a great anti-inflammatory. I did this for over a month and I possibly did notice an improvement.
I eat cherries every day (fresh or canned, it doesn’t matter) and am also wearing a copper bangle. Both seemed to have helped with the pain and mobility. Apparently, eating a few cherries every day provides great benefits including relieving the pain. It seems to have worked for me. Check out the benefits on the Net.
I love cherries! What a great excuse to eat them all the time …
